Provenance Food and Wine - revisited

Smith St seems to have become a regular haunt for Brad and I, especially on lazy weekends, and for some reason, Provenance Food and Wine had been sitting in my mind for the whole week. It might've been that a few weeks earlier on a particularly dreary, cold and wet day when I had to pick up my brother from the Biba hair salon, I quickly popped into this heart-achingly warm brick refuge to a bright smile and one of the most perfect cups of takeaway chai latte I have ever had.

So on a more beautiful day, I had possibly one of my laziest brunches with Brad. With a seat literally on an open window and with newspapers in hand, I was feeling very smugly domestic.

More of that lovely chai latte, although interestingly enough I keep getting it served to me differently each time! Although at least every time it is well done.

Brad's big breakfast. (Hoorah alliteration!) Again. Good ol' standard fare with poached eggs, spinach, mushroom and lovingly roasted tomatoes. Although not as bright or as impressive looking as some other big breakfasts Brad has had, it was hearty and enjoyable. The mushrooms and tomatoes I picked on were really nicely cooked. The mushies had a nice texture.

I didn't deviate too far and went for poached eggs on gluten free toast (yay!) and some sides of slow roasted tomato and tomato and chilli relish. The relish wasn't as exciting as I was hoping it to be, I've had more moreish ones elsewhere, but it certainly was still tasty.

It is nice when you find one or two places that just suit you, service here is friendly, there's a focus on lovely and fresh looking food and as I mentioned, it's brick walls are just very homely and comforting. It's almost like eating breakfast at home....delivery?

I noticed the girls behind us had a roasted vegetable board/platter, which looked absolutely divine. I just know I have to come back to give that a go sometime....
